Housing Health and Safety Rating System

The Housing Health and Safety Rating System (HHSRS) is a risk-based assessment procedure used by Environmental Health Officers in the housing sector to assess the health and safety risks (the likelihood and severity) of hazards to occupants or visitors of residential housing. It was introduced by the Housing Act 2004 and has been in force since April 2006

HHSRS assesses 29 categories of housing hazard, which are scored on the severity of the problem to help determined  whether the property is rated as having Category 1 (serious hazard) or Category 2 (hazard)
